 Ben Porat Yosef, son of Porat, on the eye of the Lord is taken from the blessing of our forefather Jacob to Joseph: Ben Porat Yosef, Ben Porat, on the eye of the Lord; daughters, a march on the eye of the Lord (Genesis 42:22). The Talmud refers to Joseph's righteousness in several places and connects the words "ben porat, on the eye of the Lord" with the "evil eye" from which Joseph is protected. This connection is of course a didactic meaning of the word eye, and not the original meaning.
